About this website
I'm Hawk Buckman
I’ve always believed that a photographer holds a specific role in society—that of a historian, documenting people, places, and things for future reference for the next generation, or generations to come. That’s why I started this website—to showcase my photographs for those future generations as a record of who and what was here before it changed: what it looked like, what was there, and who the people were that made it what it is.
The images on this HawkBuckman.Net are not portfolio images though there are portfolio images in the database.
The site is currently focused on western Nebraska, specifically Scotts Bluff County, but it will include other locations soon.
My Mission
What You'll Find on HawkBuckman.Net
I’ve made thousands of images over the course of more than thirty years behind a camera. I’ve always had a tendency to document the places where I live or visit, and in 2018, when I moved to Scottsbluff, I immersed myself in its history and heritage. From that point on, I began creating photographs of the area, initially for my own personal purposes.
Over time, I chose to share these images as a way to document the region and preserve it for posterity—as a means to showcase who was here, what changes over time, and the people, buildings, and landscapes that have shaped this place into what it is today.
